Quetta bars private schools from collecting summer vacation fees after a Balochistan High Court ruling, while the Sindh High Court orders separate June and July fee deadlines for a Karachi school.

Private schools in Quetta have been barred from collecting fees for the summer vacation period, following a Balochistan High Court ruling. Deputy Commissioner (West) Munir Ahmed Durrani has issued a formal notification directing private schools to comply with the court’s decision. In Karachi, the Sindh High Court restrained a private school in Clifton from collecting June and July fees in a lump sum and ruled that separate deadlines must be given for the two months.

Quetta: Notification Issued

The ban on vacation fee collection will be enforced in line with the notification, which directs private schools to ensure compliance with the Balochistan High Court’s ruling.

Karachi: Separate Deadlines

The Sindh High Court was hearing a petition filed by a citizen, Waqar, who argued that collecting fees for the summer vacation period was unlawful and that his child’s school handed out vouchers requiring both months’ fees together. The court directed the school to issue notices for summer vacation fees in May, with separate deadlines:

  • June fees: due by June 30

  • July fees: due by July 30

Books and Uniforms

The petition also raised concerns about private schools requiring parents to buy books and uniforms for the June and July vacation period. The Sindh High Court directed the Private Schools Directorate and the other parties to resolve the dispute through mutual consultation, with a meeting to be held within two weeks. The court then disposed of the petition.
