PM Shehbaz Sharif calls for modern automated baggage checks at airports, puts passenger comfort first, and announces zero tolerance for tax evasion.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called for modern, automated systems to check passengers’ baggage at airports, saying passenger comfort and convenience must remain the top priority. Chairing a review meeting on the customs system, he said internationally recognised automated systems should be adopted, and that passengers must not face unnecessary inconvenience.

Training and Courtesy

The Prime Minister said staff responsible for airport facilities must receive training in line with international standards, with courtesy and respect for human dignity as key parts of service delivery training.

Respect for Taxpayers, Zero Tolerance for Evasion

He said tax-paying businesses deserve respect, while the government will follow a zero-tolerance policy towards tax evasion. Calling the government the custodian of public money, he said it would make every possible effort to protect it, and directed the authorities to take all possible measures to prevent revenue evasion.

Credit for the New System

Shehbaz Sharif praised the new customs enforcement system and credited the chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and his team for introducing it.
