Punjab has expanded its stroke care network, with 40 primary stroke centres now operational across the province, compared to 16 previously.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced that 15 more centres are under construction. The government is also planning advanced stroke centres in major cities, including Rawalpindi, Multan and Faisalabad.
Additional Funding for Stroke Treatment
The chief minister also announced an additional Rs5 billion for stroke treatment and said no patient should be denied medical care because of a lack of funds.
She highlighted the importance of timely treatment and urged people to seek immediate medical help if they experience warning signs such as arm weakness or difficulty speaking.
The expansion aims to make specialised stroke treatment more accessible and reduce the need for patients to travel long distances for care.
