Gold prices in Pakistan fall Rs4,300 to Rs436,336 per tola on October 3, tracking a stronger US dollar and a $43 drop in international markets.

Gold prices witnessed a sharp decline in Pakistan on Saturday, tracking a fall in international bullion markets as a stronger US dollar and elevated Treasury yields weighed on the non-yielding metal. According to the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association, the price of 24-karat gold per tola fell by Rs4,300 to Rs436,336. The price of 10 grams of 24-karat gold decreased by Rs3,687 to Rs374,087, while 10 grams of 22-karat gold declined by Rs3,380 to Rs342,925.

International Markets

In the international market, gold fell by $43 to $4,138 per ounce.

Silver Prices Also Decline

Silver prices fell too: the price per tola decreased by Rs56 to Rs6,522, while 10 grams dropped Rs48 to Rs5,591. Internationally, silver declined by $0.56 to $60.44 per ounce.

What's Driving the Trend

Investors continued monitoring geopolitical developments in the Middle East and economic data for clues on the US Federal Reserve's interest-rate policy. Gold is traditionally viewed as a hedge against inflation and a safe-haven asset, but higher interest rates can dampen demand by making interest-bearing assets more attractive.
