Bus accident results in the death of 20 in Kashmir

At 5.30 am on early Friday morning while travelling on a narrow road, a bus crashed into a ravine. It swerved off the road in a remote area of Diamer District, Gilgit Baltistan. As per the officials, the bus met with this accident either because of over speeding or because of a sharp turn.

Rescue operation

According to reports, there were 38 passengers on board, out of which 20 did not survive. Further 21 individuals were injured in the scene overall. There were 3 women out of the 20 who were found dead. Dispatch immediately sent out rescue teams to provide health aid and support. 

The injured people have been shifted to a hospital in Chilas. 5 individuals out of these are in a severely critical condition, 2 have been shifted to Gilgit city. The Diamer Dc said he is in contact with the families of the victims, ensuring that support is provided. 

Gilgit-Baltistan Government spokesperson Faizullah Faraq said that an emergency was declared at the Chilas hospital at the time of the accident to take appropriate measures according to the crisis. 

Condolences from officials after accident

Prime minister Shahbaz sharif expressed condolences to the family of the victims, stating he is praying for quick recovery of the injured. The President also showed concern and condoled the loss of precious lives. The chief Minister of Gilgit Baltistan, Haji Gulbar Khan also expressed his grief on the matter. He administered to provide immediate help and aid to the injured and their families.
