Iran Backs Makkah Defence Pact, Ready to Join Unity Efforts
President Pezeshkian calls the pact a step forward for Muslim unity, while saying Tehran has not yet seen its specific terms.

Iran’s President Pezeshkian calls the Makkah Defence Pact a step forward for Muslim unity and says Tehran is ready to take part.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has described the Makkah Defence Pact, reported to involve Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, as a positive development that could help strengthen unity among Muslim countries.
Pezeshkian’s Remarks
In an interview, Pezeshkian said Muslims should work together rather than split into rival groups and engage in conflict. “This is a step forward. Muslims should unite. We are ready to participate in this process,” he said.
He added that Iran is not aware of the specific decisions reached under the reported agreement, and he did not outline how Iran might take part.
Call for Unity
Pezeshkian said the initiative could bring Muslim-majority countries closer and help resolve their differences. He stressed that unity should take precedence over divisions based on Arab, Turkish or Iranian identity, arguing that Muslims share a common religious identity and should work collectively to follow Islamic teachings.
