The NCCIA arrests three people in Faisalabad, Gujranwala and Kasur after an AI-assisted alert and a US agency tip-off about suspected child exploitation material.

The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has arrested three people from Faisalabad, Gujranwala and Kasur after an alert generated through artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted monitoring led to an investigation into suspected child exploitation material. According to the report, an AI system flagged suspicious links associated with the suspects’ mobile phones, and the information was shared with a US agency, which then alerted the NCCIA. The agency acted immediately, arresting the three suspects in their respective cities on the same day.

Phones Seized, Investigation Under Way

After the arrests, the NCCIA seized the suspects’ mobile phones. Investigators reportedly found objectionable material involving children on the devices, and AI was used to gather and analyse data from them to help flag the suspicious material and links. The investigation is now focused on examining the seized devices and the available digital evidence. The allegations against the suspects remain subject to the ongoing investigation.

Why It Matters

The case shows how AI-assisted monitoring and cooperation between Pakistani and international agencies can help identify suspected online child exploitation and lead to quick action.
