The Baseball Softball Federation of India (BSFI) has confirmed its participation in the South Asian Games 2023 Baseball event, which will be held in Pakistan in March.
In an official letter to the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA), BSFI congratulated Pakistan on regaining hosting rights for the Asian tournament after nearly 18 years and wished them luck. Pakistan hosted the tournament for the last time in 2004.
“Greetings from the Indian Softball Baseball Federation. Please accept our heartfelt congratulations and warmest greetings on your upcoming hosting of a major multi-sport event in Pakistan the XIV South Asian Games, in March 2023.”
BSFI further stated that they are looking forward to participating in the forthcoming Asian tournament while waiting for a formal invitation letter from Pakistan.
“From what we’ve heard, baseball has been featured in these games as well. The Baseball Softball Federation of India is glad to confirm our team’s participation in the tournament. Please send us an official invitation so that we may begin arrangements,” the letter said.
In March 2023, Pakistan will host the South Asian Games in Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Islamabad, and Sialkot. The tournament will feature athletes from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
It’s worth noting that after the board published tenders, the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) began rehabilitating and upgrading its facilities in preparation for hosting the South Asian Games.
