PSL 12 Auction Rules Confirmed: Teams Get Rs505 Million Salary Cap

All eight PSL franchises approve the auction framework, with seven player retentions allowed and the auction set for January 23, 2027.
All eight Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises have unanimously approved the main rules and framework for the 12th edition of the tournament.
The agreement was reached during a meeting at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, led by PSL CEO Salman Naseer. The discussions covered player retentions, direct signings, squad structures, trade windows and salary limits.
Player Retention and Auction Dates
Each franchise will be allowed to retain a maximum of seven players, including its direct signing. Teams retaining all seven players must release one player from the highest price category of the previous auction into the general player pool.
The player retention deadline is January 13, 2027, while the PSL 12 player auction will take place on January 23, 2027.
Salary Cap and Direct Signing Rules
Each franchise will have a basic salary cap of Rs450 million. The limit will increase to Rs505 million for teams that make a new direct signing, retain their previous season's direct signing, or do both.
Every franchise must spend at least Rs365 million. The direct signing window will remain open until November 23, 2026, allowing each team to sign one marquee player who did not play in PSL 10 or PSL 11.
The tournament is scheduled to run from March 18 to May 2, 2027, with 44 matches planned across five to six venues.
