Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with a high-level delegation from Chinese garments company Challenge Fashion Private Limited on Friday, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening economic cooperation with China and welcoming further investment from the Chinese private sector.

During the meeting, the prime minister announced that a Business-to-Business (B2B) conference will be held in China in the near future to foster stronger partnerships between the two countries’ private sectors.

Highlighting the depth of Pakistan–China relations, PM Shehbaz said the friendship between the two nations holds a unique position globally, with both standing by each other through every challenge. He expressed the government’s resolve to take this relationship to greater heights, particularly in the field of economic cooperation.

The prime minister encouraged Chinese industries to establish manufacturing units in Pakistan, citing the country’s potential in providing skilled labor and a favorable investment climate. He praised Challenge Group’s growing presence in Pakistan and lauded the company’s decision to set up a Special Economic Zone (SEZ). He directed relevant authorities to ensure all necessary facilities are provided for the project’s smooth implementation.

According to PM Shehbaz, the SEZ will play a pivotal role in technology transfer, skill development, and sustainable industrial growth, benefiting both the local economy and bilateral trade ties.

Challenge Group Chairman shared that since 2014, the company has invested $17 million in Pakistan to establish a modern textile industry. He reaffirmed the company’s long-term commitment to Pakistan’s market.

Following the discussions, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif formally inaugurated the Challenge Group Special Economic Zone, marking another milestone in Pakistan–China economic collaboration.
