MOFA’s online portal lets citizens apply for document attestation from home, pay digitally and receive e-certificates by email, with fewer office visits.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) has introduced an online document attestation system that lets citizens apply from home, pay fees digitally and receive electronic certificates by email, so repeated visits to ministry offices are largely no longer needed.

How It Works

  1. Open the official portal at https://portal-attestation.mofa.gov.pk/ and log in.

  2. Choose the service you need: general document attestation or apostille certification.

  3. Submit your application with clear digital copies of the documents.

  4. MOFA reviews and verifies the documents, and you track the status and notifications online and by email.

  5. Once the attestation process is complete, pay the required fee online.

  6. MOFA issues an electronic attestation certificate and sends it to your registered email address.

Documents and Offices

The system covers educational, personal, legal and commercial documents. Commercial documents must first be authenticated by a Chamber of Commerce, the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) or another authorised body. The portal links MOFA headquarters in Islamabad with its liaison offices in Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta and Gujrat. Some documents may still need additional physical verification at a MOFA office.

Benefits

The ministry says the system is meant to save time and effort, reduce queues and waiting periods, and make government procedures more accessible as part of efforts to modernise public services.
