Nadra has become one of the premier biometric identification technology providers in the world with the launch of its Automated Finger Identification System (AFIS) for civil purposes.

Named “Nadir”, the state-of-the-art AFIS was developed indigenously by Nadra and has been incorporated into its technology solutions, marking a significant milestone for the organization.

Nadra Chairman Tariq Malik commented that the innovation that led to the development of the AFIS not only builds organizations and governments but also countries. The advanced technology of Nadir can accurately and quickly store fingerprints for a wide range of public services, including immigration, border control, and social services.

Nadir’s development is a pioneering achievement in biometric identification technology, and it demonstrates Nadra’s commitment to innovation and reinforces its position as a global leader in advanced identity management solutions.

The indigenous development of the AFIS represents a major breakthrough in biometrics, utilizing the unique characteristics of fingerprints to establish a robust and reliable method of identity verification. Nadir has achieved an impressive accuracy rate exceeding 99.5%, according to the internationally acclaimed benchmarking conducted in Italy, the Fingerprint Verification Competition (FVC).

The statement noted that Nadir’s sophisticated capabilities are set to revolutionize the use of biometric identification in various civil applications. The global market for biometric identification technology is mostly dominated by providers from developed countries such as the USA, the UK, Russia, Japan, France, Germany, and others.

With Nadir’s development, Pakistan has joined the League of nations which has developed its indigenous AFIS technology and is now poised to offer its product in the international market to help countries improve civil identification, border control, and e-governance.
