Karachi’s hot spell may continue for 8-9 days with highs near 40°C, but nights are cooling; winter begins December 15, the Met Office says.

Karachi’s hot weather is expected to continue for another eight to nine days, with temperatures potentially reaching 40°C, according to Met Office spokesperson Anjum Nazir Zeigham. He said October is the second-hottest month of the year in the city and that the current spell is likely to last more than a week.

Nights Are Cooling

Zeigham said nighttime temperatures in Karachi have started to fall, a sign of the gradual seasonal shift, even though daytime conditions will stay warm for now.

When Winter Arrives

According to the Met Office spokesperson, winter in Karachi begins on December 15, and the first 10 days of January are typically the coldest period of the year.

Tips for Residents

  • Drink plenty of water and avoid prolonged exposure to the afternoon sun.

  • Wear light, loose clothing during the day.
