Lahore Traffic Police Seek Public Help to Report Smoke-Emitting Vehicles

Lahore City Traffic Police has launched a public outreach initiative asking citizens to report smoke-emitting vehicles and help address environmental pollution. Under the initiative, citizens can record videos of vehicles emitting excessive smoke and send them via WhatsApp to 0322-5638888 for registration and further action.

Traffic police said the initiative aims to protect the environment and promote public cooperation, stressing that maintaining a clean environment requires collective responsibility, not just enforcement.

Part of a Broader Crackdown

In July, Lahore's Chief Traffic Officer announced that driving licences of motorists operating smoke-emitting vehicles would be suspended, alongside route permit suspensions for violating commercial vehicles. The entry of tractor-trolleys and dumpers carrying uncovered sand or soil also remains banned in the city. According to a police spokesperson, 1,013 cases have been registered so far under the ongoing anti-smog crackdown, with special teams deployed at 12 entry and exit points and 45 dedicated enforcement teams conducting inspections across Lahore.
