66,815 Pakistanis travelled abroad for jobs in July-August, as the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund disburses Rs381 million in interest-free loans.

A total of 66,815 Pakistanis went abroad for employment during July and August, according to official data, as Pakistani workers continued to seek opportunities in international labour markets. According to the Bureau of Immigration, 27,656 Pakistanis went abroad in August, compared with 39,159 in July — a decline of 11,503 month-on-month. The Bureau said Pakistani workers were being provided access to the international labour market to pursue employment opportunities abroad.

Interest-Free Loans for Economic Opportunities

Alongside overseas employment, the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund disbursed 5,169 interest-free loans in August, worth a combined Rs381 million, supporting small businesses, self-employment, and financial inclusion. Since 2019, total disbursement of these interest-free loans has reached Rs127 billion.

Expanding Access to Financing

The government is also expanding opportunities for housing and agricultural financing as part of broader efforts to increase access to economic opportunities, aiming to give more Pakistanis pathways to improve their economic prospects through both overseas employment and domestic financing initiatives.
