British High Commissioner to Pakistan Jane Marriott called on Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb in Islamabad, with both sides discussing opportunities to strengthen bilateral trade and investment and encourage greater engagement by UK businesses in Pakistan.
Six Government Priorities Outlined
The Finance Minister outlined the government's six key priorities: bringing permanence to macroeconomic stability; moving from stabilisation to sustainable, inclusive and responsible growth; staying the course on structural reforms; moving from aid to trade and investment; expanding access to finance; and positioning Pakistan for the New Economy. He also highlighted ongoing efforts to improve the business environment for domestic and foreign investors.
UK's Role in SME Growth
The British High Commissioner highlighted the potential of UK companies and diaspora networks to contribute to private-sector development, including supporting the growth and internationalisation of Pakistani SMEs.
Aviation Sector on the Table
The two sides also exchanged views on opportunities in the aviation sector, including potential international financing and investment.
