Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has directed the authorities concerned to formulate a targeted and time-bound strategy to cut Unaccounted-for Gas (UFG) losses. He issued these directives while chairing a high-level committee meeting in Islamabad on the mounting UFG losses of Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC).
Protecting Resources and Energy Security
Dar also instructed the enforcement of strict protocols to protect public resources and ensure public facilitation, underscoring the importance of ensuring energy security in Balochistan while restoring SSGC's operational and financial sustainability.
Strategic Measures Under Review
The committee was briefed on the critical operational challenges, financial impacts, and rising distribution losses affecting SSGC's network. Strategic measures evaluated during the meeting included curbing illegal connections, upgrading pipeline infrastructure, improving revenue collection, and stabilizing gas supply for legitimate consumers.
