Anchorperson Ashfaq Ishaq Satti faces charges related to accusations of domestic violence against his wife.

Karachi police have booked anchorperson Ashfaq Ishaq over the allegation of “severely beating his wife”, it emerged on Monday.

Speaking to Dawn.com, North Nazimabad Station House Officer (SHO) Farooq Ahmed Sanjrani said the case was lodged on the complaint of Nomaika Tahir Mehmood — Ishaq’s spouse.

The suspect beat his wife over “doubts about her character”, the official said, adding that Ashfaq had fled following the registration of a first information report (FIR) against him, and efforts were underway to arrest him.

Meanwhile, Police surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed said Nomaika was initially examined on January 24 at the medico-legal section of Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
