Federal Government Finalises Rs160 Billion Package

The federal government has finalised a Rs160 billion development package for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reviewing plans to improve infrastructure, public services and security arrangements across the province.

The package was announced on October 22 following a meeting of the Federal Apex Committee in Peshawar. It aims to support development in areas facing economic and security challenges.

70% Funds Allocated to Merged Districts

According to details shared by KP Information Adviser Samar Haroon Bilour, around 70% of the package will be allocated to the merged districts, while the remaining 30% will go to other districts of the province.

The proposed allocation is intended to address development needs in underserved areas and improve access to public facilities.

Education and Police Support Included

The announced initiatives include establishing Daanish Schools in Bajaur, Lakki Marwat and Chitral, along with a technical institute in Dera Ismail Khan.

The government has also discussed strengthening the provincial police and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) through improved equipment, training and operational resources. Completion of Safe City projects has also been identified as a priority.

Implementation of Projects Under Review

The federal government has reiterated its commitment to supporting development and public welfare in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The package was reviewed during a high-level meeting chaired by the prime minister on November 3, where officials also discussed security arrangements and coordination between federal and provincial institutions.

The actual impact will depend on the release of funds and timely implementation of the announced projects.
