Shaza Fatima urges Pakistanis to protect personal data as AI-powered scams, fake bank calls and online fraud become more sophisticated.
Shaza Fatima Raises Concern Over Cyber Fraud
Federal Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima Khawaja has warned citizens about the growing threat of online fraud, saying artificial intelligence is making scams more difficult to identify.
Speaking during Cybersecurity Awareness Week 2026, she urged people to protect their personal information and remain careful when using social media and digital services.
Beware of Fake Calls and Banking Scams
The minister highlighted cases in which criminals use cloned phone numbers to make fake calls that appear to come from official bank numbers.
She advised citizens never to share their bank details, passwords, PINs or one-time passwords (OTPs) through phone calls or messages.
She also warned that scammers can collect personal information from social media and use it to target individuals and their families.
Parents Urged to Protect Children's Information
Shaza Fatima asked parents to avoid sharing children's photographs, school details and home addresses online.
She also stressed the importance of monitoring children's online activities to protect them from cyberbullying and other online risks.
The minister urged internet users to verify suspicious calls, messages and links before responding or sharing information.
