For the first time in Islamabad, a full Marathon of 42.2 km was organised. The marathon saw hundreds of participants on the Margalla Road, marking it as the first event of its kind. The ex-pat community of Islamabad also participated in the event.
Furthermore, the President of Pakistan, Dr Arif Alvi and the first lady Samina Alvi, also surprised the marathon runners with their participation. The running community of Islamabad, “Islamabad Run with Us” organized the Marathon.
The president of Pakistan encouraged such events for a healthy environment, as he completed his 10km loop. Cash prizes were given to the winners of each category by Faisal Javed the chief guest of the event.
The event was categorized with a full marathon of 42.2km, a half marathon of 21.1km, a 10km loop and a 5km loop. More than 1000 people participated in the event.
