Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to travel to Egypt on October 13, 2025, where he will participate in the Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Summit and attend the signing ceremony of a peace agreement aimed at ending the “grave situation in Gaza”.

The Foreign Office said the invitation came from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and U.S. President Donald Trump, underscoring Pakistan’s diplomatic role in regional peace efforts. He will be accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, alongside other senior ministers.

According to the FO, the peace pact summit follows diplomatic efforts initiated on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly’s 80th Session. In September 2025, leaders from seven Arab-Islamic countries (Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Indonesia, and Turkey) met with President Trump to explore avenues to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza.

The FO statement affirmed that Pakistan’s participation demonstrates its long-standing support for the Palestinian cause, and said the Sharm el-Sheikh Summit aims to push for full Israeli withdrawal, protection of civilians, release of prisoners, reconstruction of Gaza, and a political process toward an independent Palestine, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital under pre-1967 borders.

President Trump and President El-Sisi will co-chair the summit, which is expected to host leaders from over 20 countries, including prime ministers and heads of state worldwide. Notably, Israel and Hamas will not attend the summit.
