The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has announced that a rain system will enter the country starting February 18, expected to last until February 20. While intermittent rain and snowfall have been affecting various parts of Azad Kashmir, most of the country will remain dry today (Monday). However, humidity levels are expected to range between 31% to 35%, and air pollution in Islamabad stands at a significant 152 on the pollution index.

The upcoming weather system will bring widespread rainfall, impacting Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, and parts of central Punjab. Most districts of Punjab, including Lahore, will remain cloudy, though no rain is expected today. Lahore’s weather has been slightly cold in the morning, with light fog covering the city. Early morning temperatures recorded in Lahore were around 10°C, with maximum temperatures forecasted to reach 25°C.

The western weather system is also expected to affect up to 80% of northern Pakistan, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir. Snowfall is predicted in mountainous areas, while heavy rainfall is expected across these regions. Balochistan will also witness significant rainfall, with precipitation expected in cities like Quetta, Ziarat, Zhob, and Chaman, among others.

Temperatures in various cities are expected to remain cold, with the minimum temperature recorded at 0°C in Quetta, 3°C in Kalat, and 12°C in Sibi. Sindh will not experience significant rain, though light drizzle is possible in areas like Sukkur and Larkana. Karachi is expected to remain largely dry with a partially cloudy sky.

From February 19 to 21, rainfall will intensify in Punjab, with southern and central regions likely to experience 2 to 3 spells of rain. Islamabad, too, is forecast to receive 2 to 3 spells of rainfall during this period, providing some much-needed respite after an extended dry spell.
