Mohammad Rizwan appointed vice-captain of Pakistan T20I team

On Monday, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officially announced that Mohammad Rizwan, the wicketkeeper-batsman, has been designated as the vice-captain for the national T20I team.

Rizwan’s initial responsibility in this new role will be serving as the deputy to Shaheen Afridi during the forthcoming five-match T20I series against New Zealand.

The series is scheduled to take place from January 12 to January 21, with matches set to be held in Auckland, Hamilton, Dunedin, and Christchurch.

Earlier today, the Pakistan cricket team arrived in Auckland from Sydney in preparation for their upcoming series against New Zealand. The Men in Green are set to commence their training sessions tomorrow.

It’s worth noting that Pakistan recently faced a challenging 3-0 defeat at the hands of Australia in a Test series down under.

The Pakistan squad for the T20Is against New Zealand includes:

  • Azam Khan (wk)
  • Babar Azam

  • Haris Rauf

  • 1st T20 – January 12, 2024, at Eden Park, Auckland
  • 2nd T20 – January 14, 2024, at Seddon Park, Hamilton
  • 3rd T20 – January 17, 2024, at University Oval, Dunedin
  • 4th T20 – January 19, 2024, at Hagley Oval, Christchurch
  • 5th T20 – January 21, 2024, at Hagley Oval, Christchurch
