PM Shehbaz orders immediate cancellation of petrol pump licences for stations that deny registered consumers fuel subsidy benefits.

PM Orders Action Against Petrol Pumps

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed authorities to immediately cancel the licences of petrol pumps that refuse to provide fuel subsidy benefits to eligible consumers under the Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Programme.

The directive was issued during a review meeting on November 5, where officials briefed the prime minister on the programme’s progress and registration figures.

Over 15.5 Million People Registered

Officials informed the meeting that 15,519,282 eligible citizens had registered for the scheme by November 4.

The registered beneficiaries include around 15.06 million motorcycle owners and 449,800 owners of vehicles with engines up to 800cc.

The programme had issued more than 63.15 million fuel tokens, of which approximately 59.44 million had been used.

Rs28.6 Billion Paid Under Relief Programme

The briefing revealed that Rs28.6 billion had been disbursed under the fuel subsidy programme by November 4.

The prime minister expressed satisfaction with the programme's progress and said the registration and payment process had been simplified to help more eligible citizens receive assistance.

He directed officials to ensure transparent implementation and take immediate action against petrol stations that deny registered beneficiaries their entitled relief.

Petrol Pump Operators Face Strict Enforcement

The government has also activated separate helplines for consumers and petrol pump operators to provide information and resolve complaints.

The latest directive makes compliance with the subsidy programme a serious requirement for fuel stations participating in the scheme. Authorities are expected to monitor service delivery and ensure eligible consumers receive the announced benefits.
