Last week, Apple published the most recent iOS 17.0.3 update, which promises to fix a number of serious problems, including the pervasive overheating problem experienced by iPhone 15 users.

A fresh iOS update

According to Apple’s release notes, the new iOS version will address the overheating problem, which might cause the iPhone to function at a higher temperature than expected.

The most recent test by Red Ventures-owned ZDNet, a business technology news website, shows how the new update addresses the overheating problem.

The test, conducted by ZDNet’s Jason Hiner, the website’s editor-in-chief, reveals that the new iOS version reduces temperatures by as much as 15 degrees when they are at their highest.

Testing the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max

The iPhone 15 Pro Max heated up to 107.1 degrees Fahrenheit (41.2 degrees Celsius) while plugged in for charging and while running Halide, an award-winning camera app for the iPhone and iPad, the editor discovered while testing the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max.

Apple Released the New Update

After the American multinational technology corporation Apple released the new update iOS 17.0.3, Jason Hiner updated the phones and plugged them in to charge.

The phones’ temperature ranged from 80 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit (26.7 to 32.2 degrees Celsius), reaching a maximum of 93.8 degrees Fahrenheit (34.3 degrees Celsius).

The performance of the phone was unaffected by the latest update in the meantime.

Apple is collaborating with app developers to identify any potential performance concerns with the newly installed A17 Pro chip in the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max with this new software update iOS 17.0.3.
