November 8 By-Elections: Two Punjab Constituencies Prepare for an Important Polling Day
Voters in Gujranwala and Chichawatni are preparing for by-elections scheduled for November 8, 2026. Polling will take place in two Punjab constituencies as residents get the opportunity to elect new representatives.

By-elections in Gujranwala and Chichawatni will take place on November 8, 2026, as voters prepare to elect new representatives in two Punjab constituencies.
Which Constituencies Will Hold By-Elections?
The upcoming elections will be held in the following constituencies:
NA-77 Gujranwala-I: A National Assembly seat.
PP-203 Sahiwal-VI: A Punjab Assembly seat covering the Chichawatni area.
Both seats became vacant following the deaths of their respective sitting lawmakers in September 2026.
Why Are These By-Elections Important?
The November 8 elections will allow voters in both constituencies to choose representatives for their vacant seats. The results will determine who represents these areas in the National Assembly and Punjab Assembly.
The PP-203 constituency is also preparing for another by-election after an earlier contest in November 2025.
Security Arrangements for Polling Day
The federal government has approved the deployment of Pakistan Army and Punjab Rangers personnel to support security arrangements during the elections.
The security deployment will remain in place from November 7 to November 9. Rangers will serve as the second-tier response force, while Army personnel will remain available as the third-tier response force.
When Will Voting Take Place?
Polling in both constituencies is scheduled for Sunday, November 8, 2026. Election authorities and security personnel are preparing for the voting process to ensure that polling activities proceed peacefully.
The elections will give voters in Gujranwala and Chichawatni an opportunity to select their new representatives.
