Want to Walk a Robot Dog? San Francisco Company Offers $20 an Hour

A San Francisco startup offers $20 per hour to operate robotic dogs, helping collect real-world data to improve AI and robot technology.
A technology startup in San Francisco is offering $20 per hour to people willing to walk robotic dogs through city streets.
The company, called Dimensional, is looking for operators to guide four-legged robots along outdoor routes for four to six hours per shift. No previous robotics experience is required, and the company provides paid training.
Workers May Need to Carry the Robots
The job requires applicants to use a smartphone, follow assigned routes and handle equipment weighing around 33 pounds.
If a robot stops working or overheats during a walk, the operator may have to carry it back to the company's office.
The company has offered immediate payment after completed shifts, according to its job advertisement.
Why Does the Company Need Human Operators?
The main purpose of the project is to collect real-world data to improve how robots operate independently.
The robots use cameras and sensors to record their surroundings while human operators guide them. This information can help developers improve artificial intelligence systems and robot movement.
The company hopes to develop technology that could eventually support robots in factories, construction sites, data centres and other workplaces.
