The Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee of Pakistan has announced that the Zilhaj moon has been sighted, and Eidul Adha will be celebrated on Monday, June 17. The announcement was made by Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad after a meeting at the Pakistan Meteorological Department in Karachi.
In accordance with the sighting of the moon, the rituals of Hajj will begin on June 14, with the Day of Arafat on June 15. Saudi Arabia, which sighted the Zilhaj moon a day earlier, will observe Eidul Adha on June 16.
Eidul Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son to God. The festival is marked by the slaughter of animals, whose meat is shared with family and the poor. The tradition continues for three days, honoring the legacy of Prophet Ibrahim.
