Winter vacation extended in Islamabad as rain drops mercury

On Thursday, the Federal Directorate of Education ordered a one-week extension of the holiday period after the first winter rains lowered the temperature in the nation's capital.

Due to weekly vacations, the directorate has announced that all public and private educational institutions will be closed through January 7 and that classes will resume on January 9.

The country continues to experience light rain with signs of snowfall over the hills, which makes it much colder. According to a representative of the Met Office, the rain-producing storm that arrived in the nation during the past 24 hours impacted Balochistan, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa before moving on to Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan on Friday.

Islamabad experienced a temperature decrease to 11 degrees Celsius with a 62% likelihood of precipitation.
