ISLAMABAD – The Organic Meat Company Limited (TOMCL) has made history by becoming the first Pakistani meat producer to secure direct export approval to Carrefour, a retail giant operated by Majid Al-Futtaim Hypermarkets LLC, across the United Arab Emirates. This milestone marks a major advancement for Pakistan’s halal meat export industry and opens new doors for the country’s agricultural sector in high-value Middle Eastern markets.
The approval follows TOMCL’s impressive success in passing Carrefour’s rigorous systems, hygiene, and operational excellence audit, where the company achieved a score of 94.89%. This audit evaluated the company’s adherence to international food safety, hygiene, and operational standards across its entire production chain — from processing facilities to packaging.
TOMCL’s accomplishment is the latest in a series of breakthroughs for the company. Just last week, it secured meat export orders from Tajikistan worth $3.24 million, set to be fulfilled during the current fiscal year. In June, TOMCL also became the first Pakistani meat producer to win export orders from Europe, signaling its growing reputation on the global stage.
With this approval, TOMCL is now listed as an authorized vendor across Carrefour’s UAE retail network. This development is expected to significantly boost Pakistan’s halal meat export volume, strengthen its international market footprint, and promote the country’s image as a reliable supplier of high-quality, traceable, and safe food products.
In an official statement, TOMCL said, “This accomplishment reflects our unwavering commitment to international quality, traceability, and food safety standards. We are proud to represent Pakistan in the global halal meat industry and set a benchmark for compliance and excellence.”
