Nvidia’s Jensen Huang Rejects AI Doomsday Warnings
At the company’s Berlin conference, the chief executive says claims that AI could end human civilisation are “made up” and urges “responsible optimism”.

At Nvidia’s Berlin conference, Jensen Huang calls AI doomsday warnings ‘cheap’ and urges ‘responsible optimism’, as Nvidia pledges nearly $10bn for Europe.
Nvidia chief executive Jensen Huang said on Thursday, October 22, that warnings that artificial intelligence could wipe out humanity are “cheap” attempts to grab headlines. Speaking at a conference organised by his company in Berlin, the final stop of his European tour, he said that saying AI will be the end of human civilisation is “not true”.
Huang’s Position
He called such statements “made up” and urged the world to approach AI with “responsible optimism”.
He said that anyone who cares about the future and about sustainability should “build AI” and not try to stifle it.
The Wider Debate
The comments come amid a heated debate over whether AI poses an existential risk, after incidents of AI systems getting around controls during tests. Some AI researchers and industry leaders have warned of the risks and called for a slowdown, while Huang is in the opposing camp, advocating that development move full steam ahead. The report says US regulators are seen as unlikely to intervene, and that President Donald Trump opposes strict regulation.
Investment in Europe
During Huang’s European tour, Nvidia pledged nearly $10 billion in investments in Europe’s tech sector and urged the continent, which is lagging in the AI race, to move faster.
