Google’s Think Apps 2026 at Lahore Fort explores AI for Pakistan’s app and gaming sector, which saw 4.6 billion downloads worldwide in 12 months.

Google hosted Think Apps 2026 at Lahore Fort, bringing together Pakistani developers and global and regional industry leaders to explore how artificial intelligence can help the country’s app and gaming industry expand into international markets. The event focused on AI-powered development, user engagement, monetisation and sustainable growth.

Industry Figures

According to Google, products built by Pakistani studios generated 4.6 billion downloads worldwide over the past 12 months. The industry has grown from fewer than 30 people in its early days to more than 30,000 professionals. Local studios including Game District and Funsol have helped build an ecosystem focused on international audiences.

AI Tools and Roadmap

The event showed how AI tools can help studios speed up coding, streamline creative production and build apps suited to changing user needs. Under its Build, Yield and Scale roadmap, Google outlined how Google Cloud AI, Google Ads, AdMob and Google Play, which has more than three billion monthly active users, can support different stages of growth.

Farhan Qureshi, Google’s Cluster Director for Pakistan, the Philippines, Thailand and Frontier Markets, said Google aims to empower developers with AI capabilities to help studios build high-value products and raise Pakistan’s position in the global digital economy.

Skills Initiatives

  • Google has pledged to train 100,000 Pakistani developers in AI by 2028.

  • Its plans include enabling the local production of 500,000 Chromebooks to broaden access to digital education.

  • Through its Digital Pasban programme, it says it has delivered online safety training to 200,000 families.
