The United States has declared its eagerness to collaborate with Pakistan’s newly established government. During a press briefing in Washington, spokesperson Matthew Miller expressed the U.S.’s commitment to enhancing its partnership with the government led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Emphasizing the enduring alliance with Pakistan, Miller stated, “We value our longstanding partnership with Pakistan and have always considered a robust, prosperous, and democratic Pakistan as crucial to United States-Pakistan interests.” He affirmed that the engagement with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his administration would center around advancing these common interests.

Responding to a query about Maryam Nawaz’s appointment as Chief Minister of Punjab, Miller acknowledged it as a significant development in Pakistani politics. He commented, “Her selection as chief minister is a milestone in Pakistani politics.”

The spokesperson expressed optimism about cooperating more broadly with Pakistan to integrate women more fully into various aspects of the country’s life, including politics and the economy. He highlighted the role of the US-Pakistan Women’s Council and emphasized the importance of an inclusive Pakistan for the nation’s strength and prosperity.

Miller concluded by saying, “An inclusive Pakistan makes for a strong, prosperous country which all Pakistanis benefit from, and so we are always pleased when we see cracks in the glass ceiling anywhere in the world.”
