Islamabad’s H-9, G-6 Weekly Bazaars Closed for Fire Safety
The Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad says both markets will reopen once fire prevention measures are in place and CDA Emergency Services grant clearance.

MCI closes the H-9 and G-6 weekly bazaars from October 16 until fire safety measures are implemented and CDA Emergency Services grant clearance.
The Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) has ordered the closure of the weekly bazaars in H-9 and G-6 from October 16 as a fire safety precaution. According to a notification from the Director of Municipal Administration, the two markets will stay closed until all required fire prevention measures are fully implemented and clearance is granted by the Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) Emergency Services.
Next Steps
The Director General of CDA Emergency Services has been asked to direct subordinate staff to inspect both sites and determine whether adequate fire prevention measures are in place.
The Director of Municipal Administration expressed hope for an early response from the emergency services.
No reopening date has been announced for either market.
Impact
The weekly bazaars are popular among residents for affordable groceries, clothing and household items, so shoppers and stallholders may be affected until clearance is granted.
