Policeman Imtiaz Nasir, who was caught on video assaulting and verbally abusing an elderly woman in Taxila, has been dismissed from his position.
Rawalpindi police took immediate action after a video of ASI Imtiaz Nasir surfaced on social media, showing him violently mistreating the elderly woman.
The dismissal came after an inquiry was launched by the capital city police officer (CPO).
In the viral video, the officer can be seen physically attacking the elderly woman as onlookers express outrage. He then leaves the scene in a white private car with a handcuffed man, presumably the suspect, to appear before the court.
Following the video’s circulation, a district police spokesman clarified that the officer and his colleagues had apprehended a suspect named Baseer Khan, who was allegedly involved in cases of pickpocketing and had a criminal history.
