Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, met with the newly appointed Dutch Ambassador Robert-Jan Siegert to discuss enhancing trade and investment ties between Pakistan and the Netherlands. Aurangzeb highlighted Pakistan’s transition from crisis management to reform-driven stability, noting improvements in macroeconomic fundamentals and positive outlook upgrades from global rating agencies. He emphasized Pakistan’s shift toward investment- and export-led growth, structural reforms, digital tax governance, and privatisation progress.
Ambassador Siegert reaffirmed the Netherlands’ commitment to strengthening economic cooperation, citing opportunities in agriculture, IT, and textiles. He also commended Pakistan’s engagement with the EU’s GSP+ framework. Separately, UN Road Safety Envoy Jean Todt met with Aurangzeb to discuss road safety initiatives, with both sides agreeing to continue collaboration on safe and sustainable transport systems.
