The government has implemented an electronic passport (e-passport) system nationwide to streamline the immigration process for travelers at airports.
The e-passport, equipped with over 20 features, will contain comprehensive passenger records and travel details. Applications for the e-passport will be accepted at any passport office across the country.
Reports indicate that smart gates will be installed at all international airports in Pakistan, exclusively for use by e-passport holders during immigration procedures. Additionally, the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports has released the fee structure for various categories of the e-passport. Here are the rates announced:
