New Rule Introduced: Driving Licence Applicants Now Face Strict 24-Hour Deadlines

New nationwide driving licence regulations require applicants to meet strict deadlines at every stage or restart the entire process: candidates who pass the computerised e-sign test now have just 24 hours to appear for their road test, or the e-sign result becomes invalid entirely.

It Doesn't Stop There

Passing both tests still isn't enough — if a PSID (Personal Service Identification) number isn't generated within that same 24-hour window, traffic authorities will refuse clearance and discard both test results, resetting the application. Once granted, applicants get 7 days to deposit the PSID charge, or the licence application is cancelled outright. If the PSID itself expires before payment, candidates must retake both tests within a fresh 24-hour cycle — no exceptions.

One More Change

Road test facilities will now also serve as collection points for routine licence applications, combining a previously separate function. All district traffic chiefs have received formal directives from the DIG Traffic to strictly follow this new schedule.

The Bottom Line

Four separate deadlines, all chained together, with zero flexibility if you miss one — this reform is clearly designed to close loopholes, but it also means applicants now need to treat their entire licensing journey like a countdown clock rather than a series of separate errands.
