The Punjab government has approved a 10-day Basant festival for Lahore, extending the city's traditional kite-flying celebrations to welcome the new year 2027. According to the announced schedule, festivities will run from January 29 to February 7, 2027.
A Break for Kashmir Day
Although the festival spans 10 days, celebrations will pause for one day on February 5 to mark Kashmir Day, after which Basant activities will resume through February 7.
Building on This Year's Revival
The announcement follows Basant's return to Lahore earlier this year after a 25-year hiatus, when it was held from February 6 to 8. The 2027 schedule gives residents a significantly longer window to take part in the celebrations.
