Orange Line and Metrobus services resume in Lahore after multiple days of suspension amid improved security conditions.

Lahore’s public transport network has returned to normal as the Orange Line Metro Train and Metrobus services were fully restored after several days of suspension due to heightened security measures and traffic restrictions. The development comes as the city’s situation stabilizes, allowing thousands of commuters to resume their daily travel routines.

Orange Line Resumes After Five Days

The Orange Line Metro Train resumed operations on Tuesday, five days after being suspended. According to the Punjab Mass Transit Authority (PMTA), the service was temporarily halted due to road closures in key areas of the city amid security alerts. Officials stated that the decision to suspend operations was a precautionary step to ensure passenger safety.

With the situation now under control, full service has been restored along the train’s route. Commuters have expressed relief, as the Orange Line remains a vital mode of transport for thousands of daily passengers across Lahore.

Metrobus Also Back on Track

In parallel, the Lahore Metrobus service has also resumed after a four-day closure, which was similarly imposed in response to security and traffic concerns. The PMTA confirmed that operations restarted following a detailed review of the city’s law and order conditions. Both systems are now functioning normally, ensuring smoother urban mobility.

Authorities clarified that all routes are being monitored to ensure continued safe and reliable transport for the public.

Law and Order Restored in Lahore

Lahore Police reported that law and order have been maintained across the city. Markets, shopping centres, and business areas have reopened, with officials urging citizens to go about their activities without hesitation. “Your safety is our responsibility,” police officials reiterated, adding that strict action will be taken against anyone attempting to disrupt peace.

The business community has been advised to continue commercial operations confidently, as security measures remain in place throughout the city.

Partial Metro Service in Rawalpindi and Islamabad

Meanwhile, in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, Metrobus service has been partially restored. Buses are currently operating from Saddar to Kashmir Highway, while the route from Faiz Ahmed Faiz Station to Pak Secretariat remains closed due to ongoing restrictions.

The service was suspended for four days following protests organized by a religious group. District authorities have since confirmed that traffic is moving, though slowly, in some areas.

Security in Islamabad remains on high alert, with a heavy police presence in sensitive zones to ensure peace. Traffic police are actively managing routes to prevent congestion and facilitate smooth travel.

Officials assured that both Islamabad and Lahore Police are fully prepared to respond to any emergencies or disruptions. Reinforced patrolling and monitoring are being carried out to maintain stability in all key areas.

With transport services now restored, life in Lahore is gradually returning to normal — a sign of improving security and administrative coordination in the city.
