Ministry of Commerce and International Trade Centre is holding six seminars to educate stakeholders about the importance of good agricultural practices and Maximum Residual Levels (MRLs) for the cultivation and export of Rice.

These seminars are being held under the ReMIT Project funded by FCDO in major rice-growing areas of four provinces. So far, these seminars have been held in Lahore on June 21, 2021, Faisalabad on June 22, 2021, Bahawalnagar on June 24, 2021, Naseerabad on June 28,  2021, and Larkana on June 30, 2021. The next seminar will be held in Swat on July 5, 2021. These seminars will form the basis for increasing the global competitiveness of Pakistani rice.

These seminars are the first step towards the Ministry of Commerce’s outreach program, which will be run through social media and radio channels. The aim is to spread the information to the grass-root level targeting our rice growers, millers, pesticide companies, and provincial Agricultural extension departments.

Through a consultative approach, the Ministry of Commerce intends to devise a comprehensive plan of action to increase competitiveness and enhance market access in global export destinations of rice.

Ministry of Commerce would like to acknowledge and appreciate the support provided by the ITC Geneva, UK’s FCDO Provincial Agriculture Departments, REAP, NRSP, and TDAP for their collaborative efforts and support in these events of national importance.
