ECP announces date for KP elections

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced the date for general elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

According to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), general elections will take place in KP on October 8; a schedule for the elections will be issued soon.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) received a memo from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Governor Haji Ghulam Ali earlier urging that election be held on October 8.

In response to an increase in terrorist attacks, the governor of KP suggested that general elections be held in the province on October 8. In his missive, he claimed that KP had seen a rise in terrorism-related incidents.

According to Governor Ali, terrorist attacks took place in South Waziristan on March 15 and the Khyber district on March 19, while an attack in Dera Ismail Khan on March 22 claimed the lives of three troops.
