Last week Karachi was abuzz with the news that Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyongo is in town to attend a close friend’s wedding. As it turned out, the actress had been invited to take part in the wedding festivities of actor and fellow Yale School of Drama alum Fisher Neal and Pakistani designer Misha Jappanwala who is known for designing breastplates for celebrities including Cardi B.
Now the Black Panther actress is documenting her visit on her official instagram site and visiting famous places in the city to explore its unique culture and cuisine. So far, the actress has visited the famous Empress market – one of the oldest markets in Karachi that had been constructed during the British Raj in India.
“Loving the desi groove,” she wrote as she took a guided tour on the Super Savari Express bus service and later posed in front of the heavily decorated, colorful bus (the city is famous for its truck and bus art).
