India’s richest individual has launched extravagant pre-wedding festivities for his son, commencing with the provision of meals to over 50,000 people in his hometown. In the upcoming days, celebrations are poised to host some of the globe’s most influential personalities.
Anticipated to attend the main three-day celebrations on Friday are global tech CEOs, industry magnates, Bollywood luminaries, pop icons, and politicians. This extravagant affair is hosted by Mukesh Ambani, a billionaire tycoon and chairman of the oil-to-telecoms giant Reliance Industries.
The 66-year-old Ambani, ranked as Asia’s richest person on Forbes’ real-time billionaires list, boasts a net worth exceeding $114 billion. Notably, Ambani is also in the process of constructing an expansive Hindu temple complex for this momentous event.
On Wednesday evening, Mukesh Ambani and his wife Nita, accompanied by their son Anant and his fiancée Radhika Merchant, inaugurated a three-day feast for villagers at the Reliance Township in Ambani’s hometown of Jamnagar in India’s western state of Gujarat.
Anant, 28, who holds director positions on various Reliance-owned firms, is expected to tie the knot with Merchant, 29, the daughter of an industrialist, later this year. Ambani, known for hosting the most expensive wedding in India for his daughter in 2018, which reportedly cost $100 million and featured a performance by US pop megastar Beyoncé.
For this upcoming celebration, R&B star Rihanna, illusionist David Blaine, and Bollywood’s Diljit Dosanjh are slated to perform for the guests. The guest list is expected to include notable figures such as Microsoft founder Bill Gates, Meta head Mark Zuckerberg, and several current and former political leaders, as per the list released by Reliance.
Another notable invitee is Disney chief Robert Iger, following a deal agreed on Wednesday between Reliance Industries and Walt Disney to merge their Indian media businesses.
