A high-level team from the United Arab Emirates, led by Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group CEO of AD Ports Group, visited Karachi to meet with Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Faisal Sabzwari. The delegation was made up of senior executives from several industries.

Abu Dhabi Ports Group is the world’s premier trade, logistics, and industry facilitator. By signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Karachi Port Trust (KPT), the Group has taken an essential step towards improving regional connectivity and supporting economic growth in Pakistan.

The MoU lays the path for increased bilateral cooperation and efforts in developing, expanding, and digitizing port projects in Pakistan.

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between AD Ports Group and Karachi Port Trust signifies a shared ambition to drive sustainable growth, diversify commerce, and deepen bilateral connections between the UAE and Pakistan. The relationship includes a variety of programmes and projects targeted at improving port infrastructure, increasing operating economies, and embracing digitalization. To ensure the project’s commercial success, the Group will use its technical capabilities to conduct feasibility studies and analyses.

“We intend to leverage our Group’s extensive experience and capabilities to transform Karachi Port’s Container Terminal into a premier hub for transshipment as well as imported and exported cargo,” said Captain Al Shamisi. In accordance with our wise leaders’ vision for economic diversification, we anticipate that this collaboration will propel Karachi Port towards becoming a global hub of global trade and reinforce its significance as a key player in the trade and maritime industries, further stimulating economic prosperity in the region.”

“This partnership with AD Ports Group is a significant milestone for Karachi Port Trust,” said Syed Syedain Raza Zaidi, Chairman of Karachi Port Trust. We are set to unlock tremendous growth potential for our port and the broader trade community by combining our capabilities and skills. Together, we will seek to turn Karachi Port into a world-class maritime hub capable of meeting the expanding global commerce scenario.”
