WhatsApp Introduces Multi-Message Pinning Feature in Chats
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterLinkedinWhatsapp

WhatsApp has introduced a new feature that allows users to pin up to three messages in both individual and group chats, enhancing the organization and accessibility of important conversations.

The announcement came from Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and WhatsApp CEO Will Cathcart, informing users about the latest update. With this feature, users can pin various message formats including text, photos, and polls. However, it’s worth noting that members who join a group after a message has been pinned won’t be able to see it. Additionally, the pinned message won’t be visible to those who have deleted it before it was pinned or those who don’t have access to the group chat history.

For Android users, pinning a message is as simple as tapping and holding the desired message, selecting the three dots in the upper right corner, and choosing “Pin” followed by selecting the pin duration.

On iOS devices, users can pin a message by tapping and holding it, then selecting “More options” > “Pin” and choosing the desired pin duration.

For desktop and web app users, the process involves clicking on the downward arrow button next to the message while hovering over it, then selecting “Pin message” > choosing the pin duration > and finally clicking “Pin”.

Earlier reports had indicated that WhatsApp was working on a feature to allow users to pin multiple messages in a conversation. Now, the Meta-owned messaging app has officially released this functionality.

This new feature builds upon WhatsApp’s previous introduction of message pinning in group chats and one-on-one discussions back in December 2023. However, at that time, users were only able to pin one message at a time.
