Jayden Seales dismantles Pakistan with a six-wicket masterclass as West Indies clinch first ODI series win over them in 34 years

TAROUBA: The West Indies clinched their first ODI series victory against Pakistan since 1991 with a dominant 202-run win in the third and deciding match at the Brian Lara Stadium, Trinidad, on Tuesday.

Fast bowler Jayden Seales delivered a career-best performance, ripping through Pakistan’s top order and finishing with stunning figures of 6-18. Chasing 295 for victory, Pakistan crumbled to just 92 all out, with Seales removing Saim Ayub, Abdullah Shafique, and Mohammad Rizwan in his opening spell before trapping skipper Babar Azam lbw for nine. His relentless pace attack continued, cleaning up the tail with the wickets of Hasan Ali and Naseem Shah.

Earlier, West Indies captain Shai Hope anchored the innings with a brilliant unbeaten 120, guiding his side to 294-6 in 50 overs. Despite a slow start, the hosts exploded in the final overs as Hope and Justin Greaves smashed 110 runs off the last 8.1 overs. Contributions from Roston Chase (36) and Sherfane Rutherford (15) helped stabilize the innings before the late fireworks.

Pakistan had begun well with the ball, reducing the Windies to 68-3, but the death-over onslaught proved decisive. In reply, Pakistan’s batting collapsed under Seales’ fiery opening spell and left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie’s two wickets in the middle overs.

The emphatic win sealed a 2-1 series triumph for the Caribbean side, a morale-boosting turnaround after heavy defeats to Australia earlier in the summer.
