More than Rs50 million has been allocated for the purchase, and officials said the procurement process will be completed within the current fiscal year, with advertisements inviting bids expected to be issued soon. According to police officials, the drones will be used for surveillance as well as for operations requiring the deployment of tear gas, shells and mortar rounds against criminals and terrorists.

The latest procurement will add to the force's current drone capabilities, as the Punjab Police already possesses approximately 100 advanced drones.
