Football legend Cristiano Ronaldo has entered the tech world in a major way, announcing a high-profile investment and brand partnership with Perplexity AI — one of the fastest-growing answer engines in the global AI landscape. The collaboration includes a new immersive digital hub titled “Perplexity x CR7,” designed to give fans an unfiltered, interactive journey through his two-decade-long football career.
Founded in 2022 by ex-Google and OpenAI engineers, Perplexity AI has quickly become a strong competitor in AI search technology, offering real-time, cited answers powered by advanced models. The company recently reached a valuation of about $20 billion, fueled by rapid growth and more than 10 million weekly queries.
Ronaldo has joined Perplexity’s shareholder base, calling the investment an extension of his belief in lifelong curiosity and learning. In his announcement on X, he wrote:
“Curiosity is a requirement for greatness… Perplexity is powering the world’s curiosity, and together we will inspire everyone to ask more ambitious questions.”
The partnership builds on Ronaldo’s earlier use of Perplexity, which he revealed while accepting the Globe Prestige Award in Portugal in October 2025.
At 40, Cristiano Ronaldo continues to perform at the top level with Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, while also expanding his presence as a global investor. With lifetime earnings exceeding $1 billion, his move into artificial intelligence reflects a broader strategy of aligning with technologies that empower human potential — much like the mindset that has defined his legendary career.
